On the 01st of December 2021 we took over the Spirit of Friendship. The name of a yacht has a meaning for the owner and for their families. I was pleased to lean more about the story of the “Spirit of Friendship”.
Now, as new owner we decided to give this beautiful trawler yacht a new name. A name which means something to us.
MY SISU
Wikipedia says:
“Sisu is a Finnish concept described as stoic determination, tenacity of purpose, grit, bravery, resilience, and hardiness and is held by Finns themselves to express their national character. “
“Sisu is extraordinary determination in the face of extreme adversity, and courage that is presented typically in situations where success is unlikely. It expresses itself in taking action against the odds, and displaying courage and resoluteness in the face of adversity; in other words, deciding on a course of action, and then adhering to it even if repeated failures ensue. It is in some ways similar to equanimity, though sisu entails an element of grim stress management.”
This is what we see in a Nordhavn – and we think we have a little bit of “sisu” in our self.
